Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information PureTone collects when you use the app, why it’s collected, and how it’s handled. It applies to the PureTone app, including the web app and the native apps (“PureTone,” the “app,” or the “service”), and to this website.

What PureTone is

PureTone is a curated listening app. You choose a mood or an activity, a sound, and an amount of time, and PureTone curates a listening session from its library of recordings, presented at 432 Hz. PureTone curates listening sessions and does not make medical or therapeutic claims.

The listening sample on this website

The free 440 / 432 listening sample on this website plays without an account. PureTone does not collect personal information when you play them; our hosting provider keeps standard technical server logs. Listening in the app requires an account with an active membership.

Counting visits to this website

To know how many people visit this website and which pages they read, we use Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores no IP address; it does not identify you or follow you to other websites. We see only totals, such as pages viewed, the website you came from, your country and your type of device. The PureTone app does not use it.

Information you provide

When you create an account, PureTone collects the email address and password you provide. Your password is handled entirely by our authentication provider (Supabase Authentication) — PureTone does not store your password itself.

Information generated by using the app

As you use PureTone, the following information is created and associated with your account:

  • Account identifiers — a unique account ID and authentication session tokens, used to keep you signed in and to link your data to your account.
  • Favorites — the works you save to your library (title, composer, and the audio reference needed to play them back).
  • Listening statistics — aggregated counts of completed listening sessions, total listening time, and which moods and durations you’ve chosen. This powers the “Your Listening” summary on your Profile. We do not retain a track-by-track listening history beyond these aggregate counts.
  • Session requests — when you start a session, your mood or activity, sound and duration selection is sent to PureTone’s backend service to build and stream the session.

What PureTone does not collect

PureTone does not use advertising or behavioral-advertising technology, does not collect device advertising identifiers, does not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, does not access your device’s location, and does not collect payment information within the app (PureTone sells nothing inside the apps; membership is offered on this website).

How this information is used

Account, favorites, and listening data are used solely to operate PureTone’s core features: signing you in, remembering what you’ve saved, generating your listening sessions, and showing you a summary of your own listening. This information is not sold, and it is not shared with advertisers or used for cross-app tracking.

Where information is stored

Account, favorites, and listening data are stored using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database provider. Access to this data is restricted at the database level so that each account can only read and write its own records. Session-generation requests are handled by PureTone’s own backend service. Depending on where you and PureTone’s service providers are located, information may be processed or stored in a country other than your own; where this occurs, it is handled under the same protections described in this policy.

We take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect the information PureTone stores, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data retention and deletion

PureTone retains your account, favorites, and listening data for as long as your account is active, so that these features continue to work. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app (“Delete account”). Deletion permanently removes your account, favorites and listening statistics from PureTone’s servers. You can also ask us to delete your account using the contact details below.

Data stored only on your device — for example saved sessions and sessions downloaded for offline listening in the native app — stays on your device until you remove it or delete the app.

Children’s privacy

PureTone is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as PureTone changes. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of PureTone after an update means you accept the revised policy.
